Augie has spent his adult life working in the oil, gas and geothermal industries. He has spent 18 years as a drilling supervisor, and the last nine years as a drilling consultant traveling around the world. In addition to his consulting assignments, Augie was the owner/chef of a restaurant in Northern California and together with his wife Raquel has owned a wine shop and they are currently the owners of Hug Cellars winery, established in 1994.

In his spare time, Augie likes to spend time both in the mountains and at the ocean. Augie is also active in the California Waterfowl Association, Ducks Unlimited and other conservation organizations.
