Descended from a long line of grape growers, Louis Lucas came to Santa Barbara County and planted his first vineyard in the Santa Maria valley in 1970. Building a reputation as a grower of the finest quality wine grapes, he provided his grapes to many of California’s finest wineries. In 1996, Royce Lewellen joined forces with Louis to form Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards, a venture that continues to create fine wines and sell grapes of the highest quality. The vineyards of Lucas & Lewellen are located in the three principal growing regions of Santa Barbara County: the Santa Maria Valley, the Los Alamos Valley, and the Santa Ynez Valley.
